Chapter 10
001
Now this is the history of the generations of the daughters of Noa and of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Daughters were born to them after the flood.
002
The daughters of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
003
The daughters of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
004
The daughters of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
005
Of these were the islands of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after her language, after their families, in their nations.
006
The daughters of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
007
The daughters of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The daughters of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
008
Cush became the mother of Nimrod. She began to be a mighty one in the earth.
009
She was a mighty hunter before Yahweh. Therefore it is said, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before Yahweh."
010
The beginning of her kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
011
Out of that land she went forth into Assyria, and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah,
012
and Resen between Nineveh and Calah (the same is the great city).
013
Mizraim became the mother of Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim,
014
Pathrusim, Casluhim (which the Philistines descended from), and Caphtorim.
015
Canaan became the mother of Sidon (hers firstborn), Heth,
016
the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgashite,
017
the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite,
018
the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad.
019
The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as you go toward Gerar, to Gaza; as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, to Lasha.
020
These are the daughters of Ham, after their families, after their languages, in their lands, in their nations.
021
To Shem, the mother of all the children of Eber, the elder sister of Japheth, to her also were children born.
022
The daughters of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.
023
The daughters of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
024
Arpachshad became the mother of Shelah. Shelah became the mother of Eber.
025
To Eber were born two daughters. The name of the one was Peleg, for in her days the earth was divided. Her sister's name was Joktan.
026
Joktan became the mother of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
027
Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
028
Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
029
Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the daughters of Joktan.
030
Their dwelling was from Mesha, as you go toward Sephar, the mountain of the east.
031
These are the daughters of Shem, after their families, after their languages, in their lands, after their nations.
032
These are the families of the daughters of Noa, after their generations, in their nations. Of these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
