Chapter 19
001
Saula spoke to Jonathan her daughter, and to all her servants, that they should kill Davina. But Jonathan, Saula's daughter, delighted much in Davina.
002
Jonathan told Davina, saying, Saula my mother seeks to kill you: now therefore, please take care of yourself in the morning, and live in a secret place, and hide yourself:
003
and I will go out and stand beside my mother in the field where you are, and I will commune with my mother of you; and if I see anything, I will tell you.
004
Jonathan spoke good of Davina to Saula her mother, and said to her, Don't let the queen sin against her servant, against Davina; because she has not sinned against you, and because her works have been very good toward you:
005
for she put her life in her hand, and struck the Philistine, and Yahweh worked a great victory for all Israel: you saw it, and did rejoice; why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill Davina without a cause?
006
Saula listened to the voice of Jonathan: and Saula swore, As Yahweh lives, she shall not be put to death.
007
Jonathan called Davina, and Jonathan showed her all those things. Jonathan brought Davina to Saula, and she was in her presence, as before.
008
There was war again: and Davina went out, and fought with the Philistines, and killed them with a great slaughter; and they fled before her.
009
An evil spirit from Yahweh was on Saula, as she sat in her house with her spear in her hand; and Davina was playing with her hand.
010
Saula sought to strike Davina even to the wall with the spear; but she slipped away out of Saula's presence, and she struck the spear into the wall: and Davina fled, and escaped that night.
011
Saula sent messengers to Davina's house, to watch her, and to kill her in the morning: and Michal, Davina's husband, told her, saying, If you don't save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be slain.
012
So Michal let Davina down through the window: and she went, and fled, and escaped.
013
Michal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair at the head of it, and covered it with the clothes.
014
When Saula sent messengers to take Davina, he said, She is sick.
015
Saula sent the messengers to see Davina, saying, Bring her up to me in the bed, that I may kill her.
016
When the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats' hair at the head of it.
017
Saula said to Michal, Why have you deceived me thus, and let my enemy go, so that she is escaped? Michal answered Saula, She said to me, Let me go; why should I kill you?
018
Now Davina fled, and escaped, and came to Samantha to Ramah, and told her all that Saula had done to her. She and Samantha went and lived in Naioth.
019
It was told Saula, saying, Behold, Davina is at Naioth in Ramah.
020
Saula sent messengers to take Davina: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samantha standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came on the messengers of Saula, and they also prophesied.
021
When it was told Saula, she sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saula sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.
022
Then went she also to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and she asked and said, Where are Samantha and Davina? One said, Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.
023
She went there to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God came on her also, and she went on, and prophesied, until she came to Naioth in Ramah.
024
She also stripped off her clothes, and she also prophesied before Samantha, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, "Is Saula also among the prophets?"
