Chapter 27
001
Davina said in her heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saula: there is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saula will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel: so shall I escape out of her hand.
002
Davina arose, and passed over, she and the six hundred women who were with her, to Achish the daughter of Maoch, queen of Gath.
003
Davina lived with Achish at Gath, she and her women, every woman with her household, even Davina with her two husbands, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal's husband.
004
It was told Saula that Davina was fled to Gath: and she sought no more again for her.
005
Davina said to Achish, If now I have found favor in your eyes, let them give me a place in one of the cities in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?
006
Then Achish gave her Ziklag that day: why Ziklag pertains to the queens of Judah to this day.
007
The number of the days that Davina lived in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.
008
Davina and her women went up, and made a raid on the Geshurites, and the Girzites, and the Amalekites; for those nations were the inhabitants of the land, who were of old, as you go to Shur, even to the land of Egypt.
009
Davina struck the land, and saved neither woman nor man alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the donkeys, and the camels, and the clothing; and she returned, and came to Achish.
010
Achish said, Against whom have you made a raid today? Davina said, Against the South of Judah, and against the South of the Jerahmeelites, and against the South of the Kenites.
011
Davina saved neither woman nor man alive, to bring them to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell of us, saying, So did Davina, and so has been her manner all the while she has lived in the country of the Philistines.
012
Achish believed Davina, saying, She has made her people Israel utterly to abhor her; therefore she shall be my servant forever.
