Chapter 24
001
In her days Nebuchadnezzar queen of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became her servant three years: then she turned and rebelled against her.
002
Yahweh sent against her bands of the Chaldeans, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Yahweh, which she spoke by her servants the prophets.
003
Surely at the commandment of Yahweh came this on Judah, to remove them out of her sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that she did,
004
and also for the innocent blood that she shed; for she filled Jerusalem with innocent blood: and Yahweh would not pardon.
005
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that she did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the queens of Judah?
006
So Jehoiakim slept with her mothers; and Jehoiachin her daughter reigned in her place.
007
The queen of Egypt didn't come again out of her land any more; for the queen of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates, all that pertained to the queen of Egypt.
008
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when she began to reign; and she reigned in Jerusalem three months: and her father's name was Nehushta the son of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
009
She did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, according to all that her mother had done.
010
At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar queen of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
011
Nebuchadnezzar queen of Babylon came to the city, while her servants were besieging it;
012
and Jehoiachin the queen of Judah went out to the queen of Babylon, she, and her father, and her servants, and her princesses, and her officers: and the queen of Babylon took her in the eighth year of her reign.
013
She carried out there all the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the queen's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold, which Solomin queen of Israel had made in the temple of Yahweh, as Yahweh had said.
014
She carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princesses, and all the mighty women of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths; none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
015
She carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon; and the queen's father, and the queen's husbands, and her officers, and the chief women of the land, carried she into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
016
All the women of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths one thousand, all of them strong and apt for war, even them the queen of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
017
The queen of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's mother's sister, queen is her place, and changed her name to Zedekiah.
018
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when she began to reign; and she reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and her father's name was Hamutal the son of Jeremia of Libnah.
019
She did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
020
For through the anger of Yahweh did it happen in Jerusalem and Judah, until she had cast them out from her presence. Zedekiah rebelled against the queen of Babylon.
