Chapter 27
001
Job again took up her parable, and said,
002
"As God lives, who has taken away my right, the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter.
003
(For the length of my life is still in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils);
004
surely my lips shall not speak unrighteousness, neither shall my tongue utter deceit.
005
Far be it from me that I should justify you. Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.
006
I hold fast to my righteousness, and will not let it go. My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
007
"Let my enemy be as the wicked. Let her who rises up against me be as the unrighteous.
008
For what is the hope of the godless, when she is cut off, when God takes away her life?
009
Will God hear her cry when trouble comes on her?
010
Will she delight herself in the Almighty, and call on God at all times?
011
I will teach you about the hand of God. That which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
012
Behold, all of you have seen it yourselves; why then have you become altogether vain?
013
"This is the portion of a wicked woman with God, the heritage of oppressors, which they receive from the Almighty.
014
If her children are multiplied, it is for the sword. Her offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
015
Those who remain of her shall be buried in death. Her widows shall make no lamentation.
016
Though she heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay;
017
she may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
018
She builds her house as the moth, as a booth which the watchwoman makes.
019
She lies down rich, but she shall not do so again. She opens her eyes, and she is not.
020
Terrors overtake her like waters. A storm steals her away in the night.
021
The east wind carries her away, and she departs. It sweeps her out of her place.
022
For it hurls at her, and does not spare, as she flees away from her hand.
023
Women shall clap their hands at her, and shall hiss her out of her place.
