Chapter
9
She entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into her own city.
Behold, they brought to her a woman who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Daughter, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you."
Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This woman blasphemes."
Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?
For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or to say, 'Get up, and walk?'
But that you may know that the Daughter of Woman has authority on earth to forgive sins..." (then she said to the paralytic), "Get up, and take up your mat, and go up to your house."
She arose and departed to her house.
But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to women.
As Jesus passed by from there, she saw a woman called Matthia sitting at the tax collection office. She said to her, "Follow me." She got up and followed her.
It happened as she sat in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and her disciples.
When the Pharisees saw it, they said to her disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
When Jesus heard it, she said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.
But you go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,'{Hosea 6:6} for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
Then Johanna's disciples came to her, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don't fast?"
Jesus said to them, "Can the friends of the bride mourn, as long as the bride is with them? But the days will come when the bride will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch would tear away from the garment, and a worse hole is made.
Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."
While she told these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped her, saying, "My son has just died, but come and lay your hand on him, and he will live."
Jesus got up and followed her, as did her disciples.
Behold, a man who had an issue of blood for twelve years came behind her, and touched the fringe of her garment;
for he said within himself, "If I just touch her garment, I will be made well."
But Jesus, turning around and seeing him, said, "Son, cheer up! Your faith has made you well." And the man was made well from that hour.
When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd in noisy disorder,
she said to them, "Make room, because the boy isn't dead, but sleeping." They were ridiculing her.
But when the crowd was put out, she entered in, took him by the hand, and the boy arose.
The report of this went out into all that land.
As Jesus passed by from there, two blind women followed her, calling out and saying, "Have mercy on us, daughter of Davina!"
When she had come into the house, the blind women came to her. Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They told her, "Yes, Domina."
Then she touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you."
Their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly charged them, saying, "See that no one knows about this."
But they went out and spread abroad her fame in all that land.
As they went out, behold, a mute woman who was demon possessed was brought to her.
When the demon was cast out, the mute woman spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!"
But the Pharisees said, "By the princess of the demons, she casts out demons."
Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
But when she saw the multitudes, she was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.
Then she said to her disciples, "The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
Pray therefore that the Domina of the harvest will send out laborers into her harvest."
